building a vibrant and welcoming community in South-East Saint Paul, Minnesota.

New to the Neighborhood

Dear New Neighbor!

Welcome to the neighborhoods of District 1 and our beautiful corner of Saint Paul. If you would like to receive a Welcome Packet, please contact our office - 651.578.7600 or district1council@aol.com.

This website can provide you with information about the District Council and what it is we do. But the first things you may want to know is that we can put you in touch with neighbors in your area who have formed a block club and we can provide you with information about recycling in our area. We have recycling bins for neighbors and lots of information about environmental issues. You can pick up the bins at our office in the SunRay Shopping Center, 2105 1/2 Old Hudson Rd, or call us for delivery.

Within the District section of this website, we have a list of local businesses, faith organizations, schools, and recreational centers. Our public library is located on Wilson Avenue between Ruth Street and McKnight. We also want to let you know that there are two post offices near this part of Saint Paul, the Dayton's Bluff Post Office at 1425 E. Minnehaha, and the Eastern Heights Post Office in Maplewood, 1175 N. Gershwin (east of Century Avenue off of Minnehaha).

If you have moved here from Minneapolis, you will need to contract with a garbage hauler to collect your household garbage. You can ask your neighbors if they have a preference about a hauler, or call our office to find out who serves our part of Saint Paul.

Our neighborhoods have a lot to offer and being involved in organizations like the District Council is a great way to meet people and invest in your community. We hope to see you at our monthly board meetings and community events. We invite you to explore this website to see what else is happening in District 1! Send us your comments, suggestions, and announcements —we're looking forward to hearing from you!
