Community Garden

The District 1 Council is proud to sponsor two community gardens in our area: the Totem Town Community Garden and the Garden of Feed'em.

The Totem Town Community Garden is located at the Ramsey County Battle Creek/Highwood Compost Site. It is located West of McKnight Road North off of Londin Lane. Please follow this link for a map: www.co.ramsey.mn.us.

The garden features a large plot of land dedicated to growing food for the community food shelf. Within the community plot, there is also a garden tended by an elementary school class.

The garden of Feed'em is located in the Conway Recreational Center parkland, just east of the tennis courts. This garden is new in 2010 when its focus is on growing food for local food shelves. In coming years it will be open to residents seeking garden space. It is also working in cooperation with the Parks and Rec Department to provide gardening experience to the after-school program at Conway Rec Center.

The community garden program allows residents to use a piece of land for the growing season. A small fee is required each season, and at Totem Town there is an additional one-time fencing fee. As a gardener, you may decide what to plant, and what to do with what you grow. Ramsey County provides a water source at Totem Town, and the City of St. Paul provides water at the Garden of Feed'em.
